About the role
We are looking for a backend engineer with a passion for building scalable, high-performing backend systems using AWS. This hybrid role offers opportunities for both fresh graduates with strong logical thinking skills and experienced professionals, with senior roles available for candidates with 3+ years of experience.
Backend development
- Design, implement, and maintain backend systems using Python.
- Build robust and scalable APIs (RESTful or GraphQL) to support frontend and integration needs.
Performance tuning
- Optimise backend services for performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Conduct profiling and debugging to enhance system efficiency.
Cloud integration
- Build, deploy, and manage backend services on AWS or other cloud platforms.
- Leverage serverless technologies and containerised solutions (Docker, Kubernetes).
Database management
- Design and optimise relational and NoSQL databases to ensure efficient data handling.
Security and compliance
- Implement secure coding practices for APIs and cloud services.
Generative AI and AWS innovations
- Get hands-on experience with Generative AI tools and frameworks.
- Experiment with and implement the latest AWS native technologies for cloud solutions.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Python. Flask experience is not required, but familiarity with the AWS serverless stack or FastAPI is a plus.
- Logical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with tools like GitHub Copilot and Amazon CodeWhisperer is highly preferred.
- Basic understanding of cloud platforms, AWS preferred.
- Strong focus on performance optimisation.
- Fresh graduates passionate about cloud with strong logical thinking in problem solving are encouraged to apply.
Preferred skills
- Senior candidates (4+ years) should have expertise in microservices, performance tuning, and cloud-native architectures.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
- Relevant AWS certifications, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, are a strong plus.
