Vodus Sdn Bhd is a market research company that collects data from 17 million Malaysian consumers across popular online publisher platforms, generating market and consumer insights that accurately reflect the Malaysian population.

Vodus uses its One-Question Media Tracking Online Survey (OMTOS) technology to provide agile and accurate insights to businesses. That means storing and managing a large amount of data on infrastructure that must stay secure and compliant with data protection regulations.

The solution

We analysed Vodus’ existing infrastructure, identified gaps and the challenges a migration might raise, and developed a strategy that minimised disruption to Vodus’ business operations. Our team then designed a cloud infrastructure optimised for Vodus’ specific needs, taking into account workload requirements, scalability, security and compliance, with the flexibility to scale up or down as those needs change.

We migrated Vodus’ application and database to AWS, redeploying the application on AWS Elastic Beanstalk with auto-scaling groups, so AWS manages the infrastructure and Vodus focuses on application development. The database was migrated and modernised from SQL Server to Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, which improved scalability and saved costs.

Around the platform, robust cloud controls and monitoring keep the sensitive consumer data secure and the environment observable, so compliance is a property of the infrastructure rather than a task on someone’s list.
